U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new perspective on handling the situation in Lebanon, proposing that Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara play a pivotal role in dealing with Hezbollah in the coming phase, adopting a strategy that diverges from the Israeli approach.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that Al-Shara "will manage relations with Hezbollah, and he will do it differently; he won't demolish buildings," adding that he believes the Syrian president will be "more precise than the Israelis" in handling this issue, and is aware of Al-Shara's willingness to take on this role.
Trump also called on Israel to reposition its forces in Lebanon, suggesting that they concentrate their efforts on what he referred to as the "bigger issue," implying Iran, rather than continuing their operations within Lebanese territories.
Trump's remarks come amid a period of rapid political and security developments in the region, as discussions persist about the future of Israeli military presence in Lebanon and Syria, and the potential role Damascus might play in any future security or political arrangements.
