U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he is reluctant to impose deadlines on Iran, urging its leadership to "act appropriately" as he hinted at expanding U.S. military strikes should Tehran fail to resume negotiations.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that the United States plans to broaden its military operations next week to target power stations and bridges within Iran if an agreement is not reached between the two sides.
The President warned, "Next week will be very bad for them, as power stations will be targeted, as well as bridges," adding, "We will destroy all their power plants and bridges if they don't return to the negotiating table."
Trump noted that U.S. officials held discussions with Iranian counterparts on Tuesday, emphasizing that Washington continues to urge Tehran to reach an agreement despite ongoing military escalations.
He added that while Iran retains some combat capability, he considered these abilities to be significantly diminished compared to the past.
Trump concluded by stating that U.S. military operations against Iran will persist until he decides that the necessary objectives have been achieved, indicating a continuation of military pressure alongside diplomatic efforts.
