US Troops Killed in Jordan Amid Iranian Missile and Drone Attacks

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday the death of two US service members and the disappearance of a third while performing their duties in Jordan on July 17. They were confronting Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.

CENTCOM stated that the service members were killed during defensive operations in coordination with partner forces. One service member remains missing.

The US command added that four other soldiers were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals for treatment and later discharged after their condition stabilized. Those with minor injuries returned to duty following medical examinations.

The statement emphasized that CENTCOM will withhold any additional information, including the identities of the deceased, out of respect for their families, and until 24 hours after the families have been officially notified, in accordance with military procedures.

This announcement comes amid ongoing military escalation in the region, characterized by exchanges of attacks between the United States and Iran, leading to heightened security tensions in several Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan.
