Mojtaba Khamenei Issues First Statement After Father's Funeral

On Saturday, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei released a statement addressing the funeral of his late father, Ali Khamenei, along with current political and military developments in the country. He emphasized that Iran will continue to uphold its internal unity in the face of what he termed as "American aggression."

Khamenei remarked that the abrogation of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington demonstrated, in his words, that "the signature of the U.S. president holds no value and cannot be trusted," considering the incident as further proof of Washington's non-compliance with its commitments.

He added that the United States has revealed its "true face," accusing it of seeking dominance and inciting wars. He affirmed that the Iranian people and the resistance front possess the capacity to retaliate, adding that recent developments have provided examples of what he described as "lessons the United States will learn."

Addressing the Iranian public, Khamenei emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and national cohesion, urging officials and all sections of society to avoid political disagreements and social divisions, stating that the current phase requires bolstered solidarity to confront external challenges.

He also called on citizens to continue supporting state institutions and trusting officials, considering criticism of officials permissible if it is within the framework of preserving national unity and not harming innocents or sowing division.

Khamenei extended his gratitude to Iranians for their widespread participation in his father’s funeral, noting that the crowds demonstrated, as he described, a high level of popular unity and loyalty, sending a message of strength both domestically and internationally.

His thanks also extended to religious authorities, scholars, intellectuals, civil and military institutions, as well as representatives of the "resistance front" and Islamic movements who attended the funeral.

This statement comes amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States following the collapse of the memorandum of understanding between the two, leading to military exchanges and heightened regional tensions.
