Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a stern warning that the nation will not tolerate continued oil export activities from the region if Iran is barred from selling its oil. He emphasized that the current strategic equation rests on the principle of 'either everyone or no one.'
In a post on the platform 'X', Ghalibaf stated, 'In a region where Iran does not sell oil, no one will sell oil,' adding that regional security and infrastructure are tied to ensuring Iran's security, and warned that the state of the Strait of Hormuz 'will not return to its pre-war status.'
He further suggested that the security of the Strait of Hormuz could be achieved in the absence of U.S. forces, reiterating Tehran's opposition to U.S. military presence in the region's maritime corridors.
Ghalibaf's comments follow threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding potential strikes on critical Iranian infrastructure if any ships are attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, the 'Tasnim' news agency reported an Iranian military source stating that Tehran possesses 'a steel will' to assert its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring ship passage would be safe if it complies with what he described as 'Iranian arrangements.' The source warned that any U.S. attacks on bridges or power stations in Iran would be met with retaliatory strikes on regional energy infrastructures, including sites where the U.S. has interests.
The source further claimed that recent developments have demonstrated Iran's capability to target sites of its choosing, warning that any new escalation by Washington would have consequences.
These statements arrive amidst ongoing military tensions between Iran and the United States and escalating mutual threats concerning the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and critical regional infrastructure.
