The U.S. military announced early Friday the completion of its latest round of strikes against Iran, marking the thirteenth consecutive night of American attacks.
The U.S. Central Command, known as CENTCOM, reported that this wave of strikes lasted over two hours.
Earlier, the U.S. military had declared late Thursday into Friday that it initiated attacks on Iran for the thirteenth straight night.
In a statement on the X platform, CENTCOM noted that "U.S. forces commenced a new night of strikes against Iranian military targets at 6:45 PM Eastern Time today (22:45 GMT)."
The statement added that these "strikes aim to hold Iran accountable and reduce threats posed by the Revolutionary Guard on commercial navigation."
CENTCOM reiterated that the strikes were "designed to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten civilian sailors and commercial shipping transiting regional waters," while the U.S. pressures to regain control of the Strait of Hormuz and restore international navigation flow.
Iranian media reported several explosions early Friday. Areas near the cities of Ahvaz, Andimeshk, and Omidiyeh in the country's southwest were among those targeted, according to the Iranian news agency Fars, citing authorities. Reports also indicated explosions near Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and around the coastal city of Bandar Abbas.
Further reports from Iranian media mentioned explosions to the west of Bandar Abbas. Meanwhile, the Nour News agency stated that air defenses in Tehran were activated to counter an "adversarial" threat.
