Israel Assassinated Senior Hamas Security Official in Gaza

Israel assassinated the police chief of North Gaza on Saturday, in what is being described as a breach of the ceasefire that has been in effect since October 10, 2025, as Israel seeks to weaken Hamas. The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza reported the 'martyrdom of the Police Chief of North Gaza, Brigadier General Abdul Nasser Mohammad Al-Muqadama (54 years old), as a result of targeting by Israeli occupation drones in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood northwest of Gaza City.'
Eyewitnesses stated that an Israeli drone targeted a bicycle near the Ghazali intersection in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, leading to the death of Al-Muqadama and the injury of others.
This incident occurs amid escalating Israeli aggression on Gaza and its service sectors, notably targeting police leaders, officers, and their cadres.
On July 14, the ministry announced the death of six individuals, including the manager of the Jabalia Refugee Camp Police Station north of the sector and officers there, following an Israeli attack on a police station to the west of the camp.
According to a statistical report by the Gaza Government Media Office in October 2025, the Israeli army has killed 787 police and aid workers since the start of the Israeli extermination war in October 2023.
Repeatedly, the Government Media Office in Gaza and the Police Force in the sector have called for international pressure on Israel to cease its bombings and prevent targeting of the police to ensure continued service delivery and public safety in the area.
The office has previously indicated that the deliberate and recurrent Israeli targeting of the Gaza police is intended to spread chaos in the region.
Israeli breaches of the ceasefire through bombing and shooting have resulted in the deaths of 1,191 Palestinians and injured 3,853 others, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
Palestinians have described the ceasefire as "illusory", amid ongoing Israeli military operations and continued closure of crossings, except for limited aid shipments, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Analysts argue that targeting police leaders and civil services aligns with a broader Israeli strategy to weaken Hamas's control over security in areas it governs in Gaza, by assassinating security officials overseeing order and services, thus limiting Hamas's ability to maintain rule and manage governmental institutions, while increasing internal chaos and pressures.
Israel has waged a war since October 8, 2023, with U.S. support, resulting in over 73,000 deaths and more than 173,000 injuries, along with substantial destruction affecting 90 percent of civilian infrastructure.
