U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that he urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during their recent White House meeting, to take action towards ending the war in Ukraine.
Trump, speaking to journalists, emphasized his desire for the conflict to cease, stating, "I want the war to end, and I told him: I want to end the war."
The meeting took place behind closed doors on Tuesday evening, with no official details released about the discussions. However, Trump described his meeting with Zelensky and separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as having "gone very well."
Zelensky, for his part, announced after the meeting that Trump had agreed, according to him, to grant Ukraine licenses to produce missile interceptors for the Patriot defense systems, although the U.S. President did not confirm or directly comment on this issue.
Both Netanyahu and Zelensky were in Washington, D.C. for separate visits where they attended the memorial and funeral services for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and held political talks with the U.S. President at the White House.
