Washington Intensifies Pressure on Iran with New Measures

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has affirmed that the United States will continue to pursue Iranian funds worldwide, emphasizing the ongoing economic and military pressure on Tehran.

In an interview with Fox News, Besant stated that Washington plans to track Iranian money wherever it exists, noting that there are Iranian assets and funds circulating in several countries. The U.S. aims to target these as part of its strategy to increase pressure on Iran.

He added that Iranian assets should, in his words, return to the Iranian people and those affected by the regime's practices in Tehran.

These remarks follow the U.S. Treasury's announcement of a new set of sanctions targeting international networks linked to Mahan Air, which Washington accuses of transporting members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, as well as weapons and drones.

The Treasury Department detailed in a statement that it had sanctioned six entities and individuals in China, India, Russia, and Iran. These parties were accused of acting as sales agents and support networks for Mahan Air, which is already under U.S. and European sanctions.

These measures are part of the U.S. sanctions policy aimed at reducing the sources of funding and logistical support that Washington claims serve Iran's military activities, although Tehran denies these accusations and considers the U.S. sanctions illegal.
