In a significant field development, the Israeli army has reported an engagement with Hezbollah in southern Israel, indicating an increase in Israeli activity around Ali Taher Hill near the city of Nabatieh. This area recently witnessed an attack on an Israeli military engineering vehicle.
An Israeli soldier sustained moderate injuries during a close-range skirmish with Hezbollah elements in southern Lebanon late Friday to early Saturday, according to an Israeli army announcement.
The army stated: "An Israeli army personnel was injured moderately during a military operation in southern Lebanon overnight (from Friday to Saturday)," clarifying to the AFP that the soldier "was injured in a close-range clash with terrorists" in the area.
The Israeli Army Radio reported that "Hezbollah repelled an Israeli force from the Egoz Unit that attempted to infiltrate the Ali Taher area, engaging in a clash with them."
This incident follows three days after Hezbollah targeted an Israeli army engineering vehicle attempting to advance toward the strategic Ali Taher Heights, located east of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.
This engagement is viewed as a rare occurrence since the ceasefire agreement came into effect last June, with only two such incidents recorded thus far, despite Israeli forces conducting demolition and explosive operations across the occupied southern area.
