On the sixth anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion, lawyer Cécile Roukaz spoke on the Voice of Lebanon and vdl24, stating, "On this day, the capital Beirut witnessed 'hysteria and blatant madness' within mere seconds, where the 'blast of nitrate' claimed the lives of hundreds. Judge Ghassan Oueidat exploited his position to let perpetrators evade justice. Today is a day of mourning for the wounded Beirut, which has yet to regain its dignity. We call upon citizens to join us in an afternoon march starting from the fire brigade and Martyrs' Square, culminating at the port to deliver our message, which protests the delay in issuing the indictment and trials."
She continued, "On March 30, 2026, the judicial investigator concluded the investigations after hearing the witnesses and referred the file to the Public Prosecution for review. However, there is no specific legal timeframe for this review, though a reasonable period is expected. The Public Prosecutor should make concentrated efforts to conclude the review. The port explosion is described as the largest non-nuclear explosion in history, and there are still injured individuals not covered by the Ministry of Health. The pain is great, and the absence of justice perpetuates this injustice."
She added, "The Minister of Justice, as the politically responsible individual in Lebanon, has executed his duties according to the law and has not fallen short on this matter."
In response to a question, she stated, "We resorted to international courts after losing faith in the local justice process. We are surprised by the intervention and obstruction by the Shiite duo and some Lebanese politicians and judges in the investigation of the Beirut Port explosion."
