The local authorities in Marib (eastern Yemen) reported on Saturday evening that the Houthi group launched an attack on the city's residential areas using eight ballistic missiles and drones.
In a brief statement received by 'Al Arabiya.net', it was noted that the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeted residential areas in Marib City with four ballistic missiles and four drones.
The attack resulted in civilian injuries and material damage to homes, cars, and citizen properties, although no specific casualty numbers were provided.
Additionally, an Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent reported that the Houthi militia targeted a residential area near the central prison in western Taiz with artillery.
Yemeni Forces Respond with Artillery
Military sources indicated that the Yemeni army's artillery targeted Houthi gatherings on the fronts of Sirwah and Al-Kassara on Saturday evening.
The Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent also reported that Yemeni government forces' drones targeted Houthi vehicles in western Taiz.
This escalation comes after Yemeni military sources reported on Saturday that government forces intensified their operations against the Houthi militia in Marib, targeting sites and weapon depots belonging to the group while shooting down a Houthi drone over the province.
A Yemeni military source explained that government forces destroyed a Houthi weapons depot in Sirwah district, west of Marib, and targeted other depots in the northern and western parts of the province, according to the Yemeni News Agency 'Saba'.
Conversely, the Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent reported casualties following a Houthi militia shelling that targeted a displaced persons' camp in Marib.
A senior official in Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council stated on Friday that the continued attacks by the Houthi group on facilities, ports, civilian and economic infrastructure, and international maritime routes "will not go unpunished". He stressed that the armed forces would take appropriate measures to respond to threat sources.
He further added that the armed forces will take "legitimate measures" to deter threats, while emphasizing the protection of civilians and maintaining the interests of the Yemeni people.
