Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament, landed at Baghdad International Airport today, leading a high-level parliamentary delegation. His visit, he asserted, would involve 'significant and practical steps' to cement the security of both nations.
Ghalibaf was received by Adnan Fayhan, the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, upon his arrival in Baghdad.
Ghalibaf mentioned that the visit is expected to witness 'substantial and tangible measures' to solidify the security interests of Iran and Iraq.
Writing on the platform 'X', Ghalibaf highlighted the 'historic and unbreakable' ties between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples. He emphasized that their neighborhood is built 'on brotherhood during the hardest times, resistance against foreign interventions, and belief in a shared destiny.'
He further commented that 'this rich history will guide the future,' stressing the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries.
Ghalibaf's visit, leading a top-tier parliamentary delegation, aims to discuss regional developments and bolster strategic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad, as well as explore avenues to contribute to stability and security in the West Asia region.
According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, the visit will include meetings with senior Iraqi officials and prominent figures, addressing the enhancement of bilateral relations, border security, counter-terrorism efforts, economic cooperation, and the follow-up on the implementation of joint agreements.
