The General Directorate of Lebanese Civil Defense has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Mahmoud Abbas Abbas, a dedicated member from the Bireh - Akkar center affiliated with the Qoubaiyat regional center, who died today after a career marked by bravery in numerous firefighting, ambulance, and rescue missions.
The Directorate's statement, released by the Media and Public Relations Department, noted that Abbas was born on January 2, 1977, in the town of Sindiyana in the Akkar district. He was married and blessed with four children.
Abbas began his journey with the Civil Defense as a volunteer on January 2, 2002, and was later officially inducted as a fixed member in the fifth category by decree number 11966, issued on August 21, 2023. He commenced his duties in this capacity on August 24 of the same year.
Throughout his service, Abbas undertook numerous specialized training programs in firefighting, emergency medical services, and rescue operations. He participated in missions described by the Directorate as ‘dangerous and critical’.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues, praying for God's mercy on his soul, a place in paradise, and patience and solace for his loved ones.
