Turkish authorities announced on Wednesday the sinking of a tanker in the Sea of Marmara off the coast of Istanbul, with 10 sailors missing following a collision with another vessel.
The city's Governor's Office confirmed the collision between the two ships, both flying the Turkish flag.
The Istanbul Governor's Office dispatched coast guard ships and helicopters to the accident site to initiate search and rescue operations.
While one of the ships showed no damage, authorities were unable to contact the crew of the other ship, which consisted of 10 members.
Later, officials reported that the other ship had sunk, and its crew was missing.
