The American newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, reports that President Donald Trump's administration is considering the fate of the conflict with Iran and possibly announcing its cessation.
According to the newspaper, U.S. officials reveal that Trump is in discussions with his top advisers about potentially declaring the war over. He believes that continued economic pressure will ultimately force the Iranian regime to either dismantle its nuclear program or face collapse.
Conversely, sources cited by the newspaper indicate that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is working on extending the deployment of forces in the region, suggesting that the conflict might persist into the next year.
Two American sources confirmed the deployment of 19 warships across the region, including two aircraft carriers and 13 guided missile destroyers. Additionally, American sources noted an extension of the usual deployment duration for U.S. air defense forces from 9 months to a full year.
In his latest statements, Trump mentioned that the United States has destroyed a significant portion of Iran's military capabilities, claiming that winning the war is just "a matter of time."
Responding to questions about strikes against Iran, Trump told journalists at the White House that Washington has caused severe damage to Tehran. He explained that these operations are more than 99% aimed at supporting the Middle East and Israel, along with protecting American interests.
Trump stated that Iran "would have sought to eliminate Israel and the Middle East before targeting Europe and American cities."
The U.S. President added that the United States currently controls the Strait of Hormuz, with many oil tankers passing through daily.
He described the Iranian response to U.S. strikes as very weak, asserting that Iran has not been able to halt American progress. Trump declared that the end is "near and inevitable," merely a matter of time.
