U.S. Tightens Sanctions on Tehran with New Measures Against Turkish Bank

In a renewed effort to economically strangle Iran, the U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Turkey's "Golden Global" Bank, citing suspicions of connections with Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

The sanctions are part of Washington's policy aimed at economically isolating Tehran and cutting off its financial channels, with continued pressure on institutions suspected of dealing with or supporting entities linked to the Iranian regime.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant stated in a release that financial institutions are becoming increasingly aware of the seriousness of American efforts to economically isolate Iran.

He added that Washington hopes to avoid imposing additional sanctions on more banks, indicating that future actions will depend on the international community's swift response in halting support for what he termed the "murderous Iranian regime."

This move reflects the ongoing U.S. strategy to target financial networks Washington views as part of Iran's funding system for connected activities.
