Israeli Soldier Steals David Ben-Gurion’s Glasses from Memorial Museum

A report by the Israeli news site “Walla” has detailed an unexpected theft involving a soldier who stole the glasses of David Ben-Gurion, the founding father of the State of Israel, from the museum and memorial site dedicated to him in the Sde Boker settlement.

According to the site, Dimona police received a complaint last night (Sunday) concerning the disappearance of Ben-Gurion’s glasses. A swift investigation conducted by the police led to identifying the prime suspect—a soldier who was on patrol in the area.

The glasses were reportedly placed on a desk inside Ben-Gurion’s home, which has been converted into a museum within Kibbutz Sde Boker. Upon receiving the report, the police chief ordered immediate action to track down the perpetrator and recover the stolen glasses, which hold significant historical and national value, and restore them to the heritage site.

A search of the military base ensued, and officers located the glasses. The soldier was detained and brought in for questioning at the Dimona police station. He was eventually released under restrictive conditions instead of being formally arrested.
