A 50-year-old Indian woman in Uttar Pradesh wanted to be buried alive, believing that this act would please Lord Shiva after she saw him in a dream. She asked her family and neighbors to fulfill her wish, and they agreed.
They attempted to bury her alive after she told them about her dream on the morning of last Wednesday, stating that Lord Shiva had visited her in her sleep. In response, her family dug a four-foot deep hole at the entrance of her house. Some of the woman's neighbors threw flower petals and chanted prayers at the spot where she often performed her "puja."
The police intervened to save her and took her to a health center for treatment. Law enforcement arrived at the scene four hours later after being informed by those who disagreed with the burial idea from her neighbors and close ones. They rescued her, but she had already passed away. The deceased woman was named Jomti Devi and was married to Ram Sajeewan, who was a disciple of Lord Shiva.
