The European Union condemned the Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and urged all parties to work towards de-escalation and preventing further civilian casualties. The EU Commission stated in a statement issued on Monday evening, "The launch of rockets from Gaza at civilians in Israel is entirely unacceptable and fuels the factors driving escalation."
The statement added, "The significant escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and in Gaza and its surroundings must stop immediately."
Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, condemned the expulsion of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem on Monday, describing it as an illegal act that ignites tensions on the ground.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also condemned the rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel, urging both sides to take steps to reduce tensions.
