Young Woman Rescues Sister from Crocodile's Jaws

A brave British young woman fought off a massive crocodile and managed to save her twin sister from the jaws of the predator in a lake in Mexico, where they were spending their summer vacation. The Daily Mail reported that 28-year-old Melissa Lurie was swimming at night in a lake with her twin sister Georgia, 10 miles from Puerto Escondido, a popular surf resort among British tourists, when the predator struck and dragged her underwater. Melissa is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Mexico.

The incident began when a scream from Melissa pierced the night as the crocodile attacked and pulled her into the depths. Melissa called out to her sister Georgia, and when there was no response, she dove underwater to search for her. After a frantic few minutes of searching and struggling in the dark, she managed to find her sister floating on the surface.

However, as they swam back to their boat, the crocodile attacked them again. Georgia fought the creature, hitting it until it released them and swam away. Sue Lurie, the sisters' mother, stated that both young women sustained serious injuries, while Melissa nearly drowned. The mother added that the sisters were quickly taken to the hospital, where Melissa remains in a coma.

Their father, Sean, spoke about Georgia’s bravery and how she saved her sister Melissa, who works as a zookeeper, from certain death. He said, “Georgia fought off the crocodile. She was only able to save her life because she’s a diver and has lifesaving experience,” explaining, “They were swimming after dark in bioluminescent waters when Georgia heard Melissa’s scream.”
