Intelligence Agency Condemns Assassination of Its Officer

The Iraqi intelligence agency mourned the assassination of one of its officers in Baghdad on Monday. The agency stated in a communiqué received by Al-Sumaria News that, "With great steadfastness and determination to continue our duties, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service mourns the martyr Colonel Nebras Farhan Shabaan, who fell victim to the hands of hatred in a cowardly and treacherous operation today, in a desperate attempt to deter the agency from fulfilling its national duty."

The statement added, "The deceased, may God have mercy on him, was an exemplary figure in dedication and loyalty to his country and people and played a significant role in combating terrorism and organized crime throughout his years of service."

The agency confirmed that "the blood of the martyr will be a beacon for avenging the murderous criminals who seek to undermine the will of the state and weaken the resolve of its citizens." It continued, "We pledge to the Iraqi people that these crimes only increase our personnel's determination in pursuing Iraq's enemies until we achieve complete victory."
