Recently, Arab social media users circulated a video claiming to show an artificial sun developed by China that can illuminate the night sky just like the real sun. The video, which included comments such as "China creates a sun to light up the night," depicts people counting in English before the sky actually lights up before them. However, the situation is not related to the claims made.
A look through search engines reveals that the circulated video was published on April 26 and captures the initial moments of a SpaceX rocket launch owned by billionaire Elon Musk.
Regarding ambitions for an artificial sun, nuclear energy expert Mohamed Al-Shaikhly told Sky News that China has no plans to produce an artificial sun as some might imagine. He explained that what China is working on is a fusion reactor capable of producing enormous energy, reaching temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius, which is six times the energy of the sun and is also formed through a fusion reaction. Therefore, this reactor has similar potential to the natural sun.
However, Al-Shaikhly pointed out that humanity has only been able to harness this technology for energy production for a few seconds, noting that such reactors do not pose a danger despite their immense capabilities.
