Google is preparing to elevate its search capabilities to a highly impressive level, all with the assistance of artificial intelligence. This will enable the introduction of a voice search feature that will help individuals find information and answer any question from around the world vocally. This new tool from Google is called MUM, and it examines searches across both text and images, providing concise voice responses. It can even give opinions on outfits paired with shoes.
The new tool from Google is proficient in 75 languages, from which it will answer the posed questions. Google confirmed during the announcement of MUM that it has integrated technology to understand lengthy inquiries and convert them into succinct, clear, and precise questions, making it easier for the search engine to quickly and accurately retrieve answers.
In a demonstration, Google showcased an example: "I have climbed Mount Adams, and I want to climb Mount Fuji next year. What different things can I do regarding diet and fitness?" The new tool simplifies this extensive question into just five words: a comparison between Mount Adams and Fuji.
It is noteworthy that this AI-enhanced tool originated as an idea from four engineers at Google Research, who envisioned the search process as a human conversation that could encompass many aspects rather than merely a question-and-answer dynamic. In the initial vision presented by the four engineers, MUM not only answered questions but also provided its opinions. For instance, when an engineer asked about the benefits of red wine, it responded that it promotes heart health and benefits the blood vessels while simultaneously staining and affecting the teeth.
This new research tool is expected to revolutionize the online search landscape by adding all human dimensions to it and supporting it with artificial intelligence.
