On Monday, the foreign ministers of Egypt and Qatar commenced official discussions with the presence of delegations from both countries at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha. The Egyptian state news agency, Middle East News Agency, reported that discussions began between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Monday afternoon. Shoukry had earlier started his visit to Doha, carrying a message from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, regarding the positive developments in the relations between the two countries. This development followed the signing of the Al-Ula statement in Saudi Arabia on January 5, aimed at taking further steps in the upcoming period to enhance priority areas of bilateral cooperation, benefiting both nations and their brotherly peoples.
