Gift of American Helicopters to the Army

The Army - Directorate of Guidance announced in a statement that "a ceremony was held at Beirut Air Base for the delivery of three Huey 2 helicopters, a gift from the United States to the army, in the presence of the representative of the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, Brigadier General Milad Isak, the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Mrs. Dorothy Shea, and a number of officers."

Brigadier General Isak praised in his speech the "relations between the Lebanese and American armies," noting that "this occasion serves as evidence of the continued qualitative support provided by the United States to the Lebanese army and the enhancement of its air military capabilities, as it reflects American authorities' confidence in the national role played by the army in protecting Lebanon from dangers, especially the threat of terrorism." For her part, the U.S. Ambassador pointed out that "the helicopters provided by the United States will directly contribute to improving the operational capabilities of the army and ensuring it can carry out its various missions in defense of Lebanon and its people."
