UAE Health Ministry Approves Green Pass Protocol Using

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced the approval of the green pass protocol aimed at easing the restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and facilitating safe movement and tourism across the country, utilizing the Al Hosn app to display vaccination status and test validity. The ministry confirmed that this step is part of its proactive strategic plan to combat the pandemic, maintain public health, and support recovery efforts.

The ministry noted that the approved protocol allows federal and local entities to define how to use the Al Hosn app based on their specific needs and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all citizens, residents, and visitors.

The color-coded system in the Al Hosn app reflects vaccination status and the validity period of nasal swab tests according to the green pass protocol, which identifies six categories: vaccinated individuals, those who have received the second dose, those who have received the first dose and are awaiting the second dose, those who have received the first dose but missed the second, those exempt from vaccination, and unvaccinated individuals.

- **Category One**: Vaccinated persons who received their second dose 28 days or more earlier and volunteers in vaccine clinical studies will have their status shown in green on the Al Hosn app if their test result is negative, remaining valid for 30 days, and the identified trait "star or E" will appear for 7 days.

- **Category Two**: Those who have received the second dose but have not completed 28 days will have their status appear in green on the Al Hosn app for 14 days if their test result is negative.

- **Category Three**: Individuals who have received the first dose and are awaiting the second dose will have their status shown in green for 7 days if their test result is negative.

- **Category Four**: Individuals who have received the first dose but missed their second dose by more than 42 days will have their status displayed in green for 3 days if their test result is negative.

- **Category Five**: Exempt individuals with a certificate of exemption according to approved procedures will have their status displayed in green for 7 days if their test result is negative.

- **Category Six**: Unvaccinated individuals who are not exempt will have their status shown in green for 3 days if their test result is negative.

The status color in the Al Hosn app will change from green to gray once the validity of the nasal swab test expires, as determined for each category, while a positive test result will cause the status to appear in red, requiring adherence to the approved procedures for infections.
