Al-Kadhimi Warns Against Exploitation of Fatwa That Led to the Establishment of the Popular Mobilization Forces for Unnational Projects

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi warned on Monday against the exploitation of the fatwa that led to the establishment of the Popular Mobilization Forces for unnational projects, asserting that his government is working to correct Iraq's course and regulate the operations of the armed forces according to national standards. In a statement, he indicated that the government is working to dismantle crises and move away from reactive policies, noting that the accumulation of wrong policies led Iraq to disasters.

Al-Kadhimi explained, saying, "Our beloved country went through extremely difficult circumstances during this time, facing a serious existential challenge. Had it not been for divine care for this sacred nation and the fatwa and guidance issued by the supreme religious authority, Ali al-Sistani, we would have faced a monstrous terrorism that terrified the entire world, and the fatwa led to the eradication of this organization in a time frame that the whole world did not expect."

He added that his government is working to set the country on the right path by supporting the armed forces and regulating their performance according to national military standards, as always recommended by the religious authority, warning against the political and economic exploitation of the fatwa for unnational projects that undermine the sacrifices of the heroic volunteers.
