Müller Warns "Die Mannschaft" of Fatal Errors After Big Win Over Portugal

Müller Warns

German national team midfielder Thomas Müller commented on his country's victory over Portugal, winning four goals to two, in the group stage of the European Championship. Müller warned the German team against overestimating themselves after the win over Portugal, adding: "Now we must not fall into the trap of arrogance, but we believe in our quality, and we have the right to some joy and euphoria."

He emphasized that the matches against Portugal and France cannot be compared, noting that the match against "Les Bleus" was very difficult because they are stronger defensively, according to Spanish newspaper "AS." Müller admitted that there are still aspects they need to improve, citing set pieces that should not have reached dangerous areas, and assured that such mistakes can sometimes cost points.

The German team managed to overcome Portugal despite the opponent initially leading in the 15th minute with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo. "Die Mannschaft" went into the break trailing 2-1, with two own goals scored by Ruben Dias and Raphael Guerreiro. Germany asserted their style in the second half, adding two goals from Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens to lead 4-1 before Diogo Jota reduced the deficit for Portugal. With this victory, Germany moved up to second place in the group with three points, one point behind leaders France, and equal on points with Portugal, ahead of their final match against Hungary.
