Under the title "Jordan... Arrest of Discharged MP Osama Al-Ajarmah," the Arabic website reported that Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Farraiah announced on Wednesday that, based on a memo issued by the Attorney General of the State Security Court, security forces arrested the discharged MP Osama Al-Ajarmah on Wednesday evening.
Al-Ajarmah's case began last month when the Jordanian Parliament voted to suspend his membership for one year due to his insults toward the council, its prestige, reputation, members, and internal regulations. The council's decision at that time also included depriving him of participating in the council's work and cutting his allowances during the suspension period.
Following this, clashes and heavy gunfire occurred earlier this month in the Um Al-Basateen area near the capital Amman, between supporters of the discharged MP and security forces, during which the police fired tear gas at the demonstrators. Additionally, riots broke out, vehicles were burned, and gunfire was aimed into the air by a group of supporters of the mentioned MP in the Na’ur area west of the Jordanian capital, resulting in injuries to four members of the public security force.
It is noteworthy that a verbal altercation took place between Al-Ajarmah and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Moneim Al-Awdat on May 24, following a power outage that had occurred three days earlier in several provinces of the country, which the council deemed an insult to its prestige, reputation, members, and internal regulations.
