Arab City Offers Pfizer and Sinopharm Vaccines to Attract Tourists

Abu Dhabi is offering COVID-19 vaccines produced by the American company Pfizer and the Chinese company Sinopharm to tourists, a move that may help attract visitors from countries facing supply restrictions. According to Bloomberg, vaccinations will only be available to holders of Abu Dhabi-issued visas or passport holders eligible for a visa on arrival, as stated by the largest healthcare company in the UAE, "Seha."

This initiative comes as the United Arab Emirates has one of the fastest vaccination campaigns in the world, having administered over 14.5 million doses to its population of approximately 10 million. Dubai, home to Emirates Airlines, has not yet announced any plans to provide vaccines for tourists. On the other hand, the General Civil Aviation Authority and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority in the UAE have suspended the entry of travelers coming from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Namibia on all flights from national and foreign carriers, as well as transit passengers from those countries, effective from Monday, June 21, with the exception of transit flights heading to these countries.
