The end of a party attended by 26-year-old Indian young man, Naman Gupta, marked the beginning of his rise to wealth when he witnessed a scene that most of us usually see and ignore. The scene was a pile of cigarette butts smoked by attendees at the party, prompting the environmentally conscious young man to exploit them rather than overlook them after a brilliant idea occurred to him.
Naman asked himself, "Why not recycle these butts?" This is exactly what he began doing in 2016, and today he owns a large company that deploys containers in cities to collect the butts before recycling them, according to "Good News Network." Naman states that he has made over one million dollars by recycling three million cigarette butts, equivalent to 100,000 kilograms.
His company receives 6,000 kilograms of cigarette butts monthly, which are placed in containers called "V-Bins" located near street vendors and tobacco shops. These vendors are paid for every kilogram of butts they collect. The factory then separates the butts into three different sections: filters, paper, and remaining tobacco waste. The filters are transformed into stuffing for pillows and toys, while the paper and tobacco are turned into fertilizer sold to farmers or mosquito repellent.
The young man says that the money he earned does not make him as happy as the fact that he is providing a service to the community, addressing a problem, and offering a solution.
