Yemeni officials in the Archipelago of Socotra affirmed that the support from the United Arab Emirates for efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, through the provision of 60,000 doses of vaccines to the archipelago's residents, embodies its effective humanitarian role in Yemen alongside its long-standing charitable contributions to the people of Socotra.

In statements to the press on this occasion, the Yemeni officials indicated that the COVID-19 vaccine is aimed at all residents over 16 years old, seniors, and those with chronic diseases, to preserve the health and safety of Socotra's population from the health repercussions of the novel coronavirus.

They added that the generosity of the UAE is not surprising, as it has always been at the forefront of providing humanitarian and charitable support worldwide, which reflects a deeply rooted humanitarian approach in the leadership and people of the UAE, who are known for their kindness and willingness to help everyone, especially in the most challenging circumstances.

Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqli, President of the Transitional Council in the Archipelago of Socotra, stated that the UAE's support for the archipelago residents by providing 60,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, through its humanitarian arm, the UAE Red Crescent Authority, aims to vaccinate individuals over 18 years old, seniors, and those with chronic diseases, expressing gratitude and appreciation to the UAE, a land of humanity.

Colonel Saleh Yousif Fares, Advisor to the Governor of Socotra, said, "We thank the UAE, leadership and people, for their humanitarian and charitable support to the people of Socotra by providing the COVID-19 vaccine, which will bolster health efforts in the governorate and ensure the health and safety of all the archipelago's residents against the pandemic."

Raed Al-Juraibi, the First Deputy of the Governor of Socotra, remarked that the medical and humanitarian support provided by the UAE, through its humanitarian arm, the UAE Red Crescent Authority, to the people of Socotra reflects the UAE's great positions in aiding the Yemeni people to overcome the repercussions of the ongoing global pandemic. "Thank you, UAE, for all the support and assistance."

Yemeni officials emphasized that the UAE's medical and humanitarian initiative to support the Archipelago of Socotra's efforts in combating the repercussions of the novel coronavirus "COVID-19" and containing its spread has a significant impact on the people of the archipelago, as it comes at a time of crisis faced by the entire world; however, the humanitarian spirit of the UAE has remained present in maintaining the health and safety of everyone.
