The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that foreign travelers arriving in the kingdom must undergo a one-week quarantine at government-approved locations, starting from May 20, to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The Saudi Press Agency reported, citing an official from the Ministry of Interior, that with the reopening of the kingdom, exemptions to this procedure would apply to Saudis, aircrew members, and diplomats, who must quarantine at home unless they are vaccinated.
The authority has mandated airlines to contract with accommodations approved by the Ministry of Tourism for the stay of travelers undergoing quarantine. The cost will be added to the price of the flight ticket.
Those who have received full vaccination are not required to quarantine if they provide a certificate. Additionally, foreign travelers over the age of 8 must present a negative PCR test result for the coronavirus taken no more than 72 hours before their flight.
