Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo will have the chance to make history this Sunday evening when he faces the Belgian national team in the Round of 16 of the Euro 2020 championship. If he scores against Belgium, Ronaldo will become the sole record holder for the most international goals, a record currently shared with retired Iranian star Ali Daei, with each having scored 109 goals.
Ronaldo also hopes to increase his tally in the current edition of the continental cup, where he has scored five goals so far, to strengthen his position as the tournament's top scorer. Notably, he scored his five goals in just three matches during the group stage, netting two against Hungary, two against France, and one against Germany. It is worth mentioning that the winner of the Portugal vs. Belgium match will face Italy in the quarter-finals, after Italy advanced at the expense of Austria with a score of two goals to one.
