The Central Bank of Lebanon announced today, Monday, that it will pay up to $400 million to finance imports of vital medicines and flour. The National News Agency reported that the Governor of the Central Bank, Riad Salameh, stated in a statement: "The Governor of the Central Bank will settle the credits and bills that will be submitted to the Central Bank by banks related to medicines, especially for chronic and severe diseases, according to the priorities defined by the Ministry of Public Health based on the government's decision communicated on Friday, July 2, 2021, within an amount not exceeding $400 million, which also covers other imports including flour, ensuring compliance with mandatory deposit ratios."
