Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi stated today (Sunday) that Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan are establishing a future worthy of their peoples based on the logic of cooperation and integration. Al-Kadhimi tweeted, “Welcome to your Iraq, and together we establish a future that befits our peoples through cooperation and integration among neighbors, brothers, and friends.” He added, “Baghdad of peace and Arabism warmly welcomes its esteemed guests, King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, for the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian summit.”
Al-Kadhimi held an official reception at the Green Zone government headquarters for the Egyptian president, who arrived in Baghdad to participate in the summit, and they held bilateral discussions prior to the start of the trilateral summit proceedings. Jordanian King Abdullah II arrived in Baghdad and received a grand official welcome, with Iraqi President Barham Salih among the welcoming party.
The summit will discuss many issues, most notably the tripartite connection between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan in the fields of land transport, electricity, agricultural cooperation, and the rehabilitation of Iraqi factories by Egyptian companies. Iraqi authorities imposed strict security measures, especially on the streets that the guests' convoys will travel from Baghdad International Airport to the summit venue.
Streets in Baghdad were adorned with Egyptian and Jordanian flags to welcome Iraq's guests, while Iraqi media specially allocated part of their broadcasts for coverage related to the trilateral summit.
