"Maritime Safety Belt" Drills Launched in Northern Indian Ocean

Today, joint military exercises between Russia and Iran have commenced in the Indian Ocean.

Iranian state television reported today, Tuesday, that maritime maneuvers between Iran and Russia have started in the northern Indian Ocean, involving naval vessels from both countries. The media office of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army announced in a statement that "the Iranian-Russian drills under the title 'Maritime Safety Belt' will begin today in the northern Indian Ocean." According to the Iranian army, these exercises, conducted under the slogan "Collective Cooperation at Sea for Maritime Trade Security," aim to enhance security in the region and expand bilateral cooperation. The two countries participated in the "Caucasus-2020" maneuvers in the Caspian Sea basin last September.
