Cameras captured astonishing moments as flames were seen creating a massive explosion following a fire in a pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic Ocean. The British newspaper "The Sun" reported on Saturday that the fire broke out on Friday due to a gas leak from a pipeline near the Yucatán Peninsula. The flames, flowing in a circular shape in the ocean, were described as the "Eye of Fire." Shocking footage showed the ocean's surface boiling with orange flames erupting from underwater, resembling lava being released from a volcano.
A state-owned oil company in Mexico stated that the fire lasted for five hours before it was extinguished. The incident began at five in the morning when "Pemex" detected a leak in one of the pipelines. The company's crews immediately started closing the connecting valves in the pipeline and began extinguishing the fire, completing the operation by ten in the morning.
Gustavo Ambojani from Greenpeace Mexico commented on the fire, saying, "These are the risks we face on a daily basis," pointing out that his movement demands a change in this energy model due to its environmental harms.
