Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the international community on Saturday to build a "great immunity wall" to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Wang stated at the ninth Global Peace Forum held at Tsinghua University in the Chinese capital, "We must face the imminent challenges together." He added, "The most urgent priority is to accelerate the construction of the 'great immunity wall' to fend off the virus, overcome political discrimination, and implement international cooperation to fight the pandemic." China, where the coronavirus first emerged in the city of Wuhan in late 2019, has provided over 480 million vaccine doses to other countries. Wang noted that China will continue to work on improving vaccine accessibility and affordability in developing countries.
