Qatar participated in the opening of the "July 3 Naval Base" in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Saturday, following the normalization of relations between the two countries after a reconciliation that ended more than three years of a boycott imposed by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain on Doha. Qatar was represented at the inauguration by the Commander of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces, Major General Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Sulaiti, according to the official Qatari news agency. The base was inaugurated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Relations between Cairo and Doha have improved after both parties signed the "Al Ula Statement," which laid the foundations for reconciliation between the four countries and Qatar.
