A Philippine military plane carrying at least 85 people crashed in the southern Philippines on Sunday, according to the Armed Forces Chief. General Cirilito Sobejana confirmed that the plane crashed in the south of the country. He told Agence France-Presse that 15 people have so far been rescued from the burning wreckage of the C-130 plane, which fell while attempting to land on Jolo Island in Sulu Province. He added that "rescue teams are currently working at the site and we hope to save more people."
