The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the commencement of issuing work permits for holders of Golden Residency, in accordance with a decision made by the Council of Ministers to establish a "Work Permit for Holders of Golden Residency." The ministry clarified that this permit is granted under three scenarios:
1. For individuals who were not employed when they obtained their Golden Residency, should they wish to work for an employer.
2. When the current employer wants to renew the work permit and contract for Golden Residency holders after their existing work permit expires.
3. When a Golden Residency holder joins a new job with another employer.
The ministry indicated that the same procedures regarding the issuance of work permits and contracts for those on family residency will apply if they join work under the "Work Permit for Golden Residency Holders." It confirmed that existing work permits and contracts between employers and employees who have been granted Golden Residency remain valid, along with all relevant legislation in the country, especially labor law provisions when they start working for a private sector employer.
Additionally, the same fees applicable to work permits for those outside the country will also apply, along with the fees for renewing and amending work permits and contracts when renewing or amending the work contract and work permit of Golden Residency holders.
