"Forgive Me and Pray for Me": A Young Man Commits Suicide Under a Train in Egypt

In a tragic story with touching words, a young Egyptian man bid farewell to his friends and followers on his Facebook page before committing suicide under the wheels of a train, mourning the loss of his mother who passed away a day earlier due to complications from the coronavirus.

Amr Ahmed Fakhri Alsanbasy, 21 years old, wrote an hour before his suicide, "Forgive me and pray for me; if I am absent one day, my news has vanished." He then headed to Farshout railway station and threw himself in front of a train, dying instantly and scattering his body on the railway tracks.

Hundreds of residents from the city of Farshout in Qena Governorate, southern Egypt, attended the young man's funeral today, Friday, from Bahgoura Hospital, amidst a state of grief and shock.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported yesterday, Thursday, 1,193 new cases of coronavirus and 59 deaths, compared to 1,187 cases and 58 deaths the previous day.
