Numerous studies have discussed the harms of wearing masks while exercising; however, new research has proven the opposite. According to a study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic, the impact of wearing a mask during exercise was tested by subjecting a group of healthy individuals, with an average age of 37, to exhaustion through walking.
The test sample was divided into three groups based on the type of facial covering: the first group wore N95 masks, the second wore cloth masks, and the last group did not wear any face covering. Upon evaluating their conditions post-exercise, researchers found no safety issues linked to exercising while wearing any type of mask. Furthermore, monitoring screens did not reveal any abnormal heart rates or dangerous drops in oxygen levels.
As reported by UPI News, the main reason participants stopped running was due to discomfort from wearing the facial mask. According to the study published in the JAMA journal, individuals with chronic diseases or issues related to the heart or lungs did not participate in the research, as they should consult their physician before exercising, whether with or without a mask.
