"Sky News Arabia" reported on Tuesday that two Israeli casualties have occurred due to rocket fire targeting the city of Ashkelon. Israeli ambulance service chief Eli Ben confirmed the reports, stating that two women were killed in Palestinian rocket strikes on southern Israel. Palestinians fired volleys of rockets at Ashdod and Ashkelon in southern Israel on Tuesday in response to airstrikes carried out by warplanes on the Gaza Strip. Israeli media noted that eight rockets landed in Ashkelon, damaging several buildings, including an empty school building, as well as damaging several vehicles.
Additionally, the Home Front Command issued instructions urging residents of Ashkelon to enter shelters and fortified rooms and remain there until further notice. Our correspondent reported that this directive requires 130,000 residents of Ashkelon to seek shelter, highlighting that such an alert is unprecedented in previous times. Earlier, the Israeli military stated in a statement that the Chief of Staff ordered reinforcements to be sent to forces in the southern part of the country as hostilities continue for the second day. Defense Minister Benny Gantz ordered the mobilization of 5,000 reservists to expand the current campaign "and enhance the defense of the home front."
