Title: Akar Appointed Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs After Wahba's Resignation

Lebanese President Michel Aoun signed on the afternoon of today, Decree No. 7770 dated May 19, 2021, concerning the amendment of Decree No. 6172 dated March 5, 2020 (appointment of acting ministers in the absence of original ministers). This decree appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Zina Akar as the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. Akar's appointment as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs came after the resignation of the original minister, Charbel Wahba, following the crisis caused by his offensive statements towards Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries.
