The US Army has decided not to purchase the Iron Dome system from Israel, despite successfully conducting its first live ammunition test of this defense system, according to a report published in Defense News. Instead, the US Army opted for the Dynetics launcher owned by Leidos, following tests of both systems last month at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The Dynetics system, named Enduring Shield, features 360-degree detection capabilities and can fire at multiple targets simultaneously, while being easy to operate and fully integrated with the Army’s integrated air and missile defense battle command system. The Israeli Ministry of Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems told the Jerusalem Post that they would not comment on the Defense News report. If confirmed, this would represent a significant setback for the Israeli ministry.
