The media office of the appointed Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, announced the start of consultations with Libyan parties to form the new government.
According to "Sky News Arabia," Dbeibeh's media office affirmed that the appointed Prime Minister is committed to the timeline specified in the roadmap agreed upon in Geneva. In this regard, Libyan Parliament member Mohamed Al-Raeid indicated that the Parliament is expected to hold a session in the city of Sabratha on February 14, which will include all members of the council and involve the approval of the roadmap and the new government.
Al-Raeid stated in a comment to Sputnik News Agency that "Dbeibeh was given 21 days to form the new government, but if he can do it sooner, that would be better, let's say within two weeks." He confirmed that "there will be no exclusion of anyone, and there is nothing preventing former individuals from the previous government from being included if they possess the competency and capability to work."
He added, "We expect to hold a session on the 14th in Sabratha, which will include all Libyan parliamentary members, during which the Parliament will be unified, some of its regulations will be changed, and the roadmap will be adopted along with the government when it is ready."
Al-Raeid also pointed out that a new leadership for the council will be elected during this session, stating, "The presidency will now go to the south, as the Speaker of the Parliament is from the east, the head of the Presidential Council is from the east, and the Prime Minister is from the west; therefore, it is more appropriate for the presidency of the Parliament to go to the south now."
After the formation of the Libyan government, it is set to be presented to the Parliament for a vote of confidence, in line with the decisions made during the political dialogue in Switzerland.
