New Developments in Beirut Port Explosion Investigations

The National News Agency in Lebanon reported that the investigating judge in the Beirut port explosion case, Judge Tarek Bitar, has decided to release the detained individuals: State Security Major Joseph Naddaf, General Security Major Charbel Fawaz, Customs Sergeant Elias Shahin, Customs Sergeant Khaled Khattab, and detainees Johnny Jirjis and Mikhael Mar. Requests for the release of other detainees have been rejected. It is worth noting that a massive explosion occurred on August 4, 2020, at the Beirut port due to the detonation of large quantities of ammonium nitrate, resulting in the deaths of 200 people and injuring thousands. Investigations are still ongoing to uncover the truth surrounding the explosion.
